Sewer Rate Increase

On March 2, 2021, the Waterloo Water & Light Commission approved and confirmed by Waterloo City Council on March 18, 2021, moving to Equivalent Water Meter Rates for the sewer monthly customer charge.  What this means is that your sewer monthly customer charge will be based off the size of your water meter. In addition to moving to Equivalent Water Meter Rates there will also be a 10% increase on the customer charge. The sewer monthly customer charge for a 5/8 or 3/4 inch water meter will be increasing from $16.81 to $18.49.  For a 1” water meter the sewer customer charge will be increasing from $16.81 to $46.23.  Volume charge per 1000 gallons will increase from $6.71 to $8.05. This rate increase is to cover the loss of an industrial customer and will take effect April 1, 2021.
